Starting on the 6 of April, the Ab-Actie will bring you the running activity Smarter by the Second in collaboration with Daan Velthuis, the chairman of Abacus and our host for the activity.
For those of you who are not familiar with the Dutch television quiz 'Per Seconde Wijzer', participants are allowed to participate within a certain category about which they will have to answer questions throughout various rounds, 4 in total. What's special about the quiz is the way in which questions are posed: a set of 9 answers is provided to the participant, who will have to link the description/question posed by the host to the correct answer. 4 such questions are asked per round and there is a time limit, as well as jokers that participants may utilise in exchange for 16 seconds of their time.
Smarter by the Second will make use of the same principles and will be streamed online for all Abacus members to watch as a fellow mathematician takes on the challenge. At the pilot episode Daan Pluister will try to give the correct answers.
