Anatoliy Babic is an alumnus of the University of Twente who has completed applied mathematics with a specialization in Stochastic Models in Operations Management. He comes by to talk about his experience as a mathematical entrepreneur.

It all started during his student days with the company SciSports. Using a technological combination of data science, machine learning, mathematical models and a lot of naivety - he and Giels Brouwer have developed a platform with "decision support" tools for professional football clubs. Data is used to determine player quality (ordinal), but also to characterize players based on their role within the team (nominal). The possibilities with data are endless: predicting matches, scouting players, calculating transfer success probability, match preparation, and much more.
In recent years, Anatoliy has performed several assignments at MN services - a large Dutch pension provider. MN has to deal with challenges that are typical for a "large semi-government corporate".

Finally, he will also briefly talk about his experience as a (flash) trader at the trading house Optiver - this is an excellent opportunity for ambitious mathematics students to hear about this working environment. Anatoliy will give a realistic picture of this field - looking at both the positive and negative sides. Anatoliy has experience in preparing and guiding people during their application process at Trading Houses (Flow Traders, Utr8, Da Vinci, Optiver, Jane Street, Citadel, ).
